COVID-19: Around 38,000 New Cases, 499 Deaths Reported in Single Day

New Delhi: After 38,164 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in India in a day taking the total number of infections to 31,144,229. At the same time, after the death of 499 more people due to infection, taking the total death toll to 414,108.

According to the updated data released by Union Health Ministry, the number of patients under treatment for COVID-19 in the country has also come down to 421,665, which is 1.35 percent of the total cases. There has been a total reduction of 995 in the number of patients under treatment in the last 24 hours. However, the rate of recovery of patients is 97.32 percent.

According to the data, a total of 445,422,256 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far, out of which 1,463,593 samples were tested on Sunday.

The daily positivity rate in the country is 2.61 percent which is, however, less than three percent for the last 28 consecutive days. So far, a total of 30,308,456 people have successfully recovered from COVID-19, although, the death rate from is 1.33 percent.

A total of 40.64 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been given in the country so far. According to the data, out of 499 people who died due to infection in the last 24 hours in the country, 180 were from Maharashtra and 81 from Kerala.

According to the ministry’s data, 414,108 people have died due to infection in the country so far, out of which 127,031 in Maharashtra, 36,157 in Karnataka, 33,724 in Tamil Nadu, 25,027 in New Delhi, 22,719 in Uttar Pradesh, 17,999 in West Bengal and 16,233 in Punjab.

The Health Ministry said that out of those who have died so far, more than 70 percent of the patients also had other diseases.
