Lahore, 15th April: After COVID-19 erupted in Wuhan, China in 2019, it has created fear and panic among people worldwide. The nations had undergone lockdowns and the social gatherings have been halted to stop the spread of the contagious disease.

Pakistan has seen a rise in the number of cases recently, the toll reaching 6,000. The government had announced a lockdown of three weeks, which has been extended for two more weeks with leniency in some sectors.

As yet the vaccine for COVID-19 has not been discovered, and only the safety measures are meant to keep us safe infecting from this virus. Stay-at-home and social distancing are the foremost safety rules in regards to coronavirus.

However, in our country, it is being followed by fewer people only. Our government officials are particularly seen disregarding the major safety rules of social distancing.

On one such occasion, the CM Punjab, Usman Buzdar is seen not wearing a face mask and not regarding the safety rule of social distancing while in public.

It is evident from these video clips and pictures of the CM taken while his visit to the Bhakkar area, that he is roaming about with a crowd of several people. It is seen in the pictures on social media that he is surrounded by many MNAs and the MPAs of Punjab.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, the went to inspect an infestation of Tiddi Dil (an insect) affecting the land of local landowners for which actions had been taken three months ago. However, he didn’t care to talk about coronavirus or visit any hospitals in the Bhakkar region, not even the Tehsil headquarter hospital Mankira. Instead the CM just roamed on the streets and visited the Dera of an ally of the MPA and before he eventually left for Lahore.

A person who has never visited any hospital before is seen shaking hands with the people. How is he proving his noble task when he himself is not following the general safety rules of social distancing and not shaking hands when the pandemic is all over?

How can we expect common people of our country to follow the rules set by the World Health Organization in regards to coronavirus when the senior leaders of our country are setting such a poor example?

If a lockdown is imposed in the country where people are not supposed to move around and put other people’s lives at risk, then why do we witness such a show of negligence, and that too by the CM Usman Buzdar?

Punjab government sets a bad example for the public as CM fails to exercise social distancing. Perhaps, Prime Minister Imran Khan should look into this personally in order to combat the spread of COVID-19 across Pakistan.

Such an act of carelessness is totally not acceptable and much care should be taken by our leaders for the safety of our people if not for themselves.
