COVID-19: Educational Institutes in Punjab Likely To Close Again

The government should reconsider its decision to reopen educational institutions, the health department once again sent a proposal to close schools across Punjab.

According to the details, coronavirus cases are increasing in different cities of Punjab including Lahore. The health department has expressed concern over the rising number of coronavirus cases and once again suggested the closure of educational institutions.

Health department sources said that the fourth wave of COVID-19 is a threat to child safety. According to sources, Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood has said that the decision regarding closure or reopening of educational institutions should be taken by the provinces themselves as the fourth wave can be dangerous for children.

COVID-19 Delta variant is spreading rapidly in Lahore, Multan, Mianwali and other cities of the province. Therefore, the Punjab government should decide to close educational institutions because the virus is spreading rapidly.

Earlier, the Punjab Education Department made a statement on the issue of opening schools during Smart Lockdown in Punjab including Lahore. A statement issued by the Punjab Education Department said that government schools across Punjab would remain open on Saturday. Half of the students will come to study in government schools.

According to the Punjab Education Department, private schools are closed on Saturdays. However, private school owners can keep the school open if they wish.
