COVID-19: Faisal Edhi Tests Positive, Puts PM Khan at Risk

Lahore, 21st April: Faisal Edhi, the current Chairman of the Edhi Foundation and the son of Pakistan’s prominent philanthropist, Abdul Sattar Edhi, has been tested positive for COVID-19.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, Faisal Edhi, who was in contact with the coronavirus patients and was dealing with the burial of the dead bodies, has succumbed to the disease himself.

Faisal Edhi is currently present in Islamabad where he was tested. He has now been shifted to a quarantine center. Faisal Edhi has been in Islamabad for the past 6 days.

A spokesman from the Edhi Foundation said Faisal Edhi was in contact with corona patients, from where he might have acquired the disease.

It is also reported that Faisal Edhi had met Prime Minister Imran Khan three days ago in which he presented a cheque to the PM himself for the Corona Relief Fund.

While taking the check from Faisal Edhi, the Prime Minister did not take any kind of precautions, he was not wearing any gloves or had a face mask on.

After Faisal Edhi has turned positive for COVID-19, Prime  Minister will also have to undergo a test himself, as it is reported that the virus can travel through currency notes and paper cheques.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his commitment that the government would provide full support and assistance to the Edhi Foundation.

The number of coronavirus patients in Pakistan is steadily on the rise, reaching up to 9,216 and the deaths rate has risen to 192 so far.

According to the latest data from the National Command and Operation Center for coronavirus, 796 new corona patients have appeared in the last 24 hours.
