COVID-19: Former Cricketer hopes the industry should be reopened

Lahore (24th April, 2020): Former Cricketer and sports commentator, Rameez Raja, believes the Cricket industry should be reopened.

According to reports, the former Cricket caption has said that the cricket boards around the world will not be able to survive for long if no matches are held amid the Coronvairus pandemic. Raja, while speaking on his YouTube channel said that the pandemic has brought life as we know it, to a stand still.

Raja added that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should hold “dialogues with fellow cricket boards” in order to resume activity which needs to be “generated behind closed doors”. Raja went on to say that cricket fans are “starved” for a lack of sports activity resuming which would be a “wonderful option” as the cricket fandom could enjoy matches via their television screens amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Sports Commentator further said that the PCB needs to initiate conversation with other countries in this regard.

The former Captain said that there is need for dialogue if there is any hope for starting cricket once again. He added that the Australian and Indian cricket boards are allegedly in talks to resume planning for the series scheduled for the end of the year and although, fans cannot attend the matches, they can at least be allowed the liberty to watch the matches from their homes and behind closed doors.
