COVID-19: Markets to be shut down amid the rise in cases

Lahore, 9th November: The Punjab government has decided to close the markets violating SOPs in view of the growing situation of coronavirus in the province.

Baaghi TV: These important decisions were taken at a meeting of the Provincial Cabinet Committee on Anti-Corona. In the meeting, the Punjab government approved important measures to control COVID-19.

Commerce Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal said that smart lockdown would be extended from micro to neighbourhood and society level. He issued strict instructions to the citizens and warned that the market, bazaars, offices and wedding halls will be closed if SOPs are not followed.

According to the NCOC, in the last 24 hours, 1,650 new cases of coronavirus have been reported and 9 deaths have occurred. The total number of coronavirus patients in Pakistan has reached 344,839 while the number of deaths has risen to 6,977.

In Pakistan, 318,881 Corona patients have recovered and 18,981 are undergoing treatment.

According to the NCOC, the number of coronavirus patients in Sindh is 150,169 and in Punjab, it is 1,06,922. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has 40,657, Islamabad 21,861, Balochistan 16,106, Azad Kashmir 4,758 and Gilgit has 4,366 patients.

The National Command and Operations Center has made it mandatory to wear a mask to prevent coronavirus in Pakistan. Citizens must wear a mask when leaving their homes. Masks will be required for those working in government and private sector offices. Provincial governments have been directed to make SOPs and masks mandatory in markets, shopping malls, public transport, restaurants.
