Lahore, 18th April: With the pandemic lurking and country under lockdown, the economic condition is going down. Many organizations are finding it hard to make both ends meet, similar is the case with the working class.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, Mian Mansha and the Nishat Group are under fire for sacking their 850 to 900 employees in a day.

Reportedly one of the affected laborers has released a video on social media, blowing the whistle on Pakistan’s biggest industrialist. According to the ex-employee, Mian Mansha is alleged to firing 900 laborers of his company without giving them any warning or reason.

A video has been going viral on social media where a Nishat Apparels’ ex-employee explained in detail on what exactly had happened. The mass lay-off was unprecedented by all, including the person who presented the statement.

Dawn News under PEMRA’s radar

The person informed, that on their last day, they logged in with their biometric identification to work, while, logging off on finishing their work, the biometric didn’t work. They were told by the HR department that they have resigned and were no longer part of the company.

The laborers were neither given any reason for being laid off nor were they given a chance for further discussions. Rather they were told not to reach out to the Labor Court, as nothing would happen and the company has every right to lay them off at the time of pandemic crisis.

The ex-employee is very perturbed at the injustice being carried out by such a rich industrialist. If the poor are left like this, then how can he earn and support his family?

He went on explaining that they sat there earning billions for the Nishat Apparels, worked hard day and night. He complained that couldn’t they give at least a month’s salary to their employees? Even if the factories were closed, it was Mian Mansha’s responsibility to pay them all.

According to many reports, Mian Muhammad Mansha is said to be valued at a wholesome $3 billion, one of the richest in Pakistan. The Nishat Group, for decades, has remained one of Pakistan’s most thriving group of companies earning a fortune in the process.

Such irrational behavior is not expected from a man of high stature. If our working class is left on their own at the time of crisis, then how can our country move forward?

With only having some rich people in the country we can not develop. It is actually the lower class, which is to be taken alongside if we want our country to progress in the right direction.
