COVID-19 Testing of Cricket Squad Concludes in England

The COVID-19 testing of the squad for Pakistan’s tour of England has been completed. The Medical Panel of the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) has taken the samples of the 20 players and 11 team officials.

It should be clear that the team will depart for Manchester tomorrow for the start of the tour. Six players including Muhammad Hafeez who had the controversial test result, have tested negative on retesting.

The team was taken to the airport amidst heavy security for the departure to England. Players who departed for England after corona testing for the land of Baba-i-Cricket, include Azhar Ali (Captain), Babar Azam (Vice-Captain), Abid Ali, Asad Shafiq, Fawad Alam, Imam-ul-Haq, Naseem Shah, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Yasir Shah. 11 team officials also travelled with the squad.

Chief Executive Wasim Khan said that the players who tested negative on retesting include Muhammad Hasnain, Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Muhammad Rizwan, Wahab Riaz, and Muhammad Hafeez. The first corona test had come out positive for these six players. Kashif Bhatti, Haris Rauf, Haider Ali, and Imran Khan Sr, have tested positive on the retest as well. Chief Executive Wasim Khan said that those 6 players have not departed for England despite having tested negative on retest.
