COVID-19: The novel virus picks speed in Pakistan

Lahore (29th April, 2020): The novel virus gains momentum in Pakistan as number of cases increases across the country. 

According to reports of Baaghi TV, there has been an increase in the number of patients and casualties due to COVID-19 in Pakistan. There have been 26 deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of patients in Pakistan has risen to 14,843 while the total death toll has reached 327.

According to the latest figures from the National Command and Operations Center, 806 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the last 24 hours, with the highest number of 5,827 in Punjab, 5,291 in Sindh, 2,160 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 915 in Balochistan and 330 in Gilgit-Baltistan. 297 cases were reported in Islamabad while 65 cases were reported in Azad Kashmir.

During the last 24 hours, 8,530 new tests were performed, so far 3,425 patients have recovered while the condition of 44 patients are reported as critical.

In Pakistan, 26 people died in one day from Coronavirus, bringing the death toll from the virus to 327:

  • 92 patients died in Sindh
  • 100 in Punjab
  • 114 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
  • 3 in Gilgit-Baltistan
  • 14 in Balochistan 
  • 4 in Islamabad
