COVID-19: Tougher restrictions expected after cases reach an alarming rate

Lahore, 26th March: An alarming increase in coronavirus cases breaks a record of a ten-month high positivity rate in Lahore, Punjab’s provincial capital.

According to Baaghi TV reports, Lahore saw a surge in COVID-19 cases as 1,566 new infections were reported in the city overnight, making it the highest in ten months.

As per reports from the health officials, coronavirus’ positivity rate of infections has risen to 18% as of today. Officials reported that there were as many as 5,174 new cases and 69 fatalities during the last five days in Lahore alone.

President of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Ashraf Nizami called such a high positivity rate ‘alarming’ and stressed that tougher restrictions need to be imposed immediately in Lahore.

According to the latest news from Baaghi TV, the data received from the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) reported that the number of positive cases in Pakistan during the past 24 hours has reached 4,368, whereas, the virus claimed 63 more lives as of today.
