Abu Dhabi, 15th March: According to the reports, UAE has temporarily suspended all entry visas except for those holders of Diplomatic passports, effective from the 17th of March, amid the outbreak of coronavirus worldwide.

The decision to hold the visas does not apply to persons who had already got visas before the effective date.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship said the move was taken as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of the virus after the World Health Organization declared coronavirus a pandemic, which makes travel at this point dangerous.

Dubai being a transit and a responsible state has taken the decision keeping in view the safety of countries affected by the virus and will be introducing the screening mechanism of passengers as an additional measure.

World Health Organization has declared COVID-19 a pandemic, due to which many countries including Spain have announced the lockdown and the many flight services have been halted.

According to the latest update, around 156,785 people have been affected and 5,839 deaths have been reported so far globally.
