COVID-19: Which Areas of Lahore are Declared ‘Red Zone’?

According to the reports of Baaghi TV, the number of coronavirus patients is increasing in Pakistan. Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab, has the highest number of infected patients so far.

In Lahore, some areas have been sealed off and the government has included them in the Red Zone with reference to coronavirus patients. Citizens have been asked to refrain from visiting these areas.

Areas of Lahore in the Red Zone: Imamia Colony, Shahdara, Makhanpura, Chah Miran, Hanjarwal, Manawan, Baghbanpura, Misri Shah, Samanabad, Ichhra, Garhi Shahu, Saddar Cantt, Krishna Nagar, Begum Kot, Andron Bhati Gate, Shadbagh, Singhpura, Gulberg, Airport Housing Society, Mozang, Lundabazar Nolakha Bagh Gul Begum, and Chauburji have been declared a Red Zone. Several of these areas have been sealed off and a heavy contingent of police has been deployed.

The government has appealed to citizens to stay away from these areas. The next three weeks are very crucial and it is advised to take caution during this period. The World Health Organization has also issued a warning that if the government policy remains the same and people continue to break the lockdown safety rules like this, then by August, half of Pakistan’s population could be infected with the coronavirus.

It should be noted that the number of patients in Pakistan has risen to 10,513 while the total number of deaths has risen to 224. According to the latest figures released by the National Command and Operations Center on coronavirus, 742 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.

Punjab has the highest number of 4,590, Sindh 3,373, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,453, Balochistan 552, Gilgit-Baltistan 290, Islamabad 204, and Azad Kashmir has 51 COVID-19 patients.

In the last 24 hours, 6,700 new tests have been conducted and so far 2,337 patients have recovered while the condition of 44 patients is still critical.
