Lahore, 17th April: Young Doctors Association (YDA) in Pakistan has gone on a strike against the poor condition of the safety equipment provided to the doctors and nurses during a time when a pandemic is prevalent in the country.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, the Young Doctors Association has gone on a hunger strike in a camp, demanding proper protective equipment for the doctors and para-medic staff against coronavirus.

In a video, on social media, the doctors are seen calling on the Punjab Health Minister, Dr. Yasmin Rashid to fulfill their demands, till then they will continue with their hunger strike. When the police entered the camp, there was a discord between the doctors and the police officers.

Chairman YDA Punjab, Khizer Hayat says that YDA’s hunger strike camp will continue till the demands are approved. All services will continue throughout Punjab and work will not stop.

In Gujarat, a nurse Sadaf Jamil was martyred while treating Corona patients. According to preliminary reports, it is said that the nurse did not have a corona test, the government is hiding facts about Sadaf’s death.

YDA Chairman Dr. Salman Haseeb said, there is 1 patient of coronavirus at Punjab Institue of Cardiology while the number of doctors and paramedical staff infected by Corona is 11. There isn’t proper safety equipment for the doctors to deal with the patients, which is putting their lives at risk.

The issue of increment in salaries is still pending and false hope is being given by the government. Employees are being recruited on daily wages at Lahore Quarantine Centers. Dr. Yasmin Rashid has failed miserably in this regard.
