LAHORE (8th Sept, 2020): Crime has increased under Buzdar administration in Punjab, claims Law Minister Basharat Raja.

According to the report of Baaghi TV, Punjab Provincial Law Minister Basharat Raja, while acknowledging the increase in crime across Punjab, said that while crime has increased in some areas, it has also decreased in many areas.

Summing up the ongoing debate on law and order in the Punjab Assembly session, Provincial Law Minister Basharat Raja said that if crime has increased in the past, then efforts will be made to reduce it now. Illegal arms were a common issue in Punjab province. Action has been taken against those who use sectarian, insulting and obscene words on social media.

Raja Basharat further said that after coming to power, the release funds of the police have been restored. After 15 years, 500 vehicles have been purchased. How will they improve when they do not provide facilities to anyone? Highway Petroleum has been constructed. For years they were not given vehicles but now the government has decided to give vehicles to the Petroleum Police as well. After 15 years, the present government has to recruit more than 5,000 constables. If the employees retire, then new recruitments would be made.

Basharat Raja further said that while crime has increased in some areas, it has also decreased in many areas. The government took full action on the Sahiwal tragedy and submitted challans to the court. Children were shot in the mouth in Model Town. They had to hold a sit-in to register an FIR, but this is no longer the case. All the processions in Muharram took place peacefully. The way in which Shias and Sunnis are moving towards sectarianism is a matter of concern for all of us.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has directed that religious sectarianism, insulting on social media and Strict action will be taken against those who use obscene words. If crime has increased in the past, efforts will be made to reduce it.
