CTD to begin crackdown on TLP’s social media accounts

Lahore, 16th April: Sindh’s Counter-terrorism Department (CTD) has declared a crackdown against the social media accounts of the now banned organization Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).

According to reports, the CTD of Sindh has initiated a crackdown against TLP’s social media accounts after igniting violence and assault on police personnel in Karachi.

Omar Shahid, the Deputy Inspector-General for CTD said the department along with the FIA’s cyber crime wing has drawn up a strategy to identify people who are using social media to spread hate and violence in the country.

He further said that action will be taken against those whose accounts have been identified as such. A complaint has already been filled in the cyber crime wing to initiate the investigation against the people using those accounts.

Fawad Chaudhry, minister for information informed that a special cell comprising of NADRA, Safe City Lahore and other agencies have been made to identify people who attacked police personnel during the protests carried out by the religiopolitical party.
