The seventy-seventh death anniversary of renowned Urdu poet Akhtar Sheerani is being observed on Tuesday.

He is considered to be one of the leading romantic poets of Urdu language.

His famous include works Akhtaristan, Nigarshat-e-Akhtar, Lala-e-Toor, Tayyur-e-Aawara, Naghma-e-Haram, Subh-e Bahaar, and Shahnaz.

He remained editor of the literary magazines Intikhab, Bahaaristan, Khyaalistan, and Romaan.

He died on this day in Lahore in 1948.
