Debut projects of famous Pakistani actresses

Lahore, 2nd October: It is always easy to remember the breakthrough projects of famous stars, yet not many people know the projects with which they started off their careers. Often overlooked and undiscussed, the debut projects of many of the current superstars are not known by the general population.
There are only a handful of actors who have planted their feet firm in the industry over the years and have lived up to the title of being a “leading star”.

Mahira Khan:
Before becoming the renowned actress she is today, Mahira Khan was a popular video jockey. During her career as a VJ, she was approached by several filmmakers and ended up accepting Shoaib Mansoor’s offer to debut in the 2011 film Bol where she was cast in a supporting role opposite Atif Aslam.
The song picturized on the pair, Hona Tha Pyaar, became extremely popular and contributed to Mahira’s first brush with mainstream popularity. Later that year, Mahira Khan made her television debut with Mehreen Jabbar’s directorial Neeyat on ARY Digital. Mahira’s latest project was the superhit film Superstar (2019) and her upcoming film, Quaid e Azam Zindabad will be released later this year.
Ayeza Khan:
Ayeza was discovered through an event held at her college. She had auditioned for a commercial campaign during her teenage years which ultimately led to her acting debut in a supporting role in Fahad Mustafa, Sunita Marshal comedy dramaTum Jo Miley (2009).
Despite limited screen time, Ayeza managed to gain a good audience and favourable reviews for her acting which further led to her bagging more work as an actor. Ayeza is currently appearing in the Geo TV drama serial Meherposh.
Saba Qamar:
In 2004, whilst Saba had gone to see a shooting of a play, the main heroine backed out at the last minute and the director asked Saba to perform instead. She skillfully acted out her lines and managed to get a lot of praise from the director and the crew. This led to Saba initially making brief appearances on some undocumented PTV plays.
But then, in 2005 Saba debuted with a prominent role in the drama Main Aurat Hoon for which she won the PTV Award for Best Actress. Then in 2007 with Khuda Gawah on PTV, Saba received greater fame and was approached by several private channels. The talented actress was last seen on TV in the drama Cheekh (2019). Future projects featuring Saba Qamar include two feature films, Kamli and Ghabrana Nahin Hai, and a web-series titled Mann Jogi.
Mehwish Hayat:
Mehwish made her debut as a child artist at the age of eight in a commercial. She entered the world of acting with a short film, InshaAllah alongside Mohib Mirza, which was premiered at international film festivals in 2009.
However, her first prominent performance was in 2010 when she appeared in the soap Larkiyan Mohallay Ki, produced by Momina Duraid for Hum TV. Her first drama as the lead role was Mere Qatil Mere Dildar in 2011. Mehwish’s most recent project was the film Chhalawa (2019). In her next project, she will star opposite Humayun Saeed in the Nadeem Baig directorial film London Nahin Jaunga.
Sajal Aly:
Sajal’s first acting stint was in Nida Yasir, Yasir Nawaz sitcom Nadaaniyaan in 2009, where she appeared briefly in one episode. She then auditioned for ARY’s soap, Mehmoodabad Ki Malkain produced by Humayun Saeed’s banner, along with her sister Saboor Ali.
Both sisters were selected to be cast in the ensemble soap serial. Sajal impressed the critics with her natural yet impactful performance in the drama, which managed to get her more projects. She was last seen in the drama Yeh Dil Mera on Hum TV and her next project is a web-series titled Dhoop Ki Deewar which will be streamed on Zee5.
