Decision on Four More Leaders of Jama’at-ud-Da’wah

According to a Baaghi TV report the Anti-Terrorism Court of Pakistan has given a decision regarding cases against four more leaders of the Jama’at-ud-Da’wah.

The court has sentenced Professor Zafar Iqbal and Yahya Mujahid to imprisonment of 5 years each, and fine of Rs 50,000 each. Professor Hafiz AbdurRehman Makki was sentenced to a jail-term of one year and a fine of Rs 20,000. Hafiz AbdusSalaam bin Muhammad was also sentenced to one year imprisonment a Rs 20,000 fine.

Judge Ejaz Ahmed Buttar of Anti-Terrorism Court Number 3 announced the decision. Advocate Naseeruddin Nayyar completed his case on the behalf of Jama’at-ud-Da’wah. The statements of all witnesses for the case 19/20 registered by CTD (Counter Terrorism Department) were recorded.

A few months ago the Anti-Terrorism Court had sentenced the Ameer of Jama’at-ud-Da’wah Professor Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and Professor Zafar Iqbal to 11 years imprisonment each in total.

It needs to be clear that Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and various leaders have been arrested under the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1267. However the cases against them have been registered in relation to Al-Anfal Trust, that builds mosques and religious institutions all over the country.
