Decision taken regarding closure of educational institutions across the country

Islamabad, 6th May: Keeping in view the surging number of coronavirus cases in the country, the federal government has taken the decision regarding the educational institutes across Pakistan.

According to the report of Baaghi TV, it has been decided to keep educational institutions across the country closed even after June 1.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has supported the reopening of educational institutions from June 1 while Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh have opposed it.

The decision to keep educational institutions across the country closed even after June 1 was taken in a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood. Provincial ministers attended the inter-provincial education ministers’ conference via video link.

Coronavirus: Schools in Punjab closed till the 30th of May

 

Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh opposed the reopening of educational institutions from June 1, saying there was a risk of the spread of the coronavirus, so educational institutions should be closed.

However, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has backed the opening of educational institutions from June 1. In case of disagreement among the provinces, it has been decided to take up the matter in the next meeting of the National Coordinating Committee

The meeting also proposed to extend the holidays of Punjab’s educational institutions till the end of June while conducting examinations.
