New Delhi, 7th December: Delhi Police has claimed that it has arrested 5 terrorists.
According to reports from the Indian media, a team of Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested five persons, two from Punjab and three from Kashmir.
According to a senior officer of the Special Cell, an exchange of fire took place with armed men in the Shakarpur area of East Delhi on Monday morning. Five people have been arrested after the exchange of fire.
According to police, apart from weapons, other suspicious items were also seized from the possession of the arrested persons. It is still not known to which organization these terrorists belong.
The three Kashmiris have been identified as Shabbir Ahmed, Muhammad Ayub Pathan and Riaz. Meanwhile, two Punjabi men Gurjit Singh and Sukhdeep Singh have been arrested by the police.
Police are investigating the case. Police claim that it is possible that the arrested persons were plotting a major attack in the capital Delhi but by arresting all of them, the police have achieved great success.
Police also claim that they have raided the area and arrested them following intelligence reports.
It should be noted that the farmers’ movement against the three agricultural laws passed by the Modi government has been going on for the last 12 days. The farmers have declared a shutdown in India on December 8, which has been supported by several political parties, including the Congress.
