Diplomatic activities suspended at the US Embassy in Kabul #Baaghi

Dozens of people at the United States (US) embassy in Afghanistan have tested positive for the coronavirus, halting many diplomatic missions.

According to the details, officials say one person has already died of COVID-19, while 114 have been placed in quarantine and several have been evacuated on medical grounds. Around 95 percent of the cases involved people who did not receive the coronavirus vaccine or did not complete a course of vaccine doses.

Furthermore, the officials added that mass diplomatic activities have been banned due to the spread of the epidemic and restrictions will remain in place until the virus is brought under control. Military medical facilities were functioning at full capacity and temporary COVID-19 wards had been set up to provide oxygen to the needy.

The embassy said people would only be allowed to go out if they ate or exercised. The number of cases of the coronavirus in Afghanistan has risen sharply over the past few weeks, putting pressure on the country’s already fragile health system.

Afghan officials have identified 2,313 positive cases of the coronavirus and 101 deaths since Wednesday. It was the deadliest single day since the outbreak of the coronavirus in the country in early 2020.
