The government faces public criticism over lapse in diplomatic etiquette and international hospitality, as an error by the protocol team could possibly lead to a major embarrassment for Pakistan, in a recent official visit of the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic.

According to reports, welcoming banners were displayed across streets, squares and government buildings in Islamabad on the occasion however, the protocol team failed to ensure the accuracy of a vital point – the Czech flag. Citizens and journalists have expressed disappointment and shock after the banners were displayed in Pakistan’s capital territory, Islamabad. Instead of the Czech Republic’s flag, the banners displayed a “checkered flag” [like in chess] most often hoisted at the start/completion of a race.
