29th March 2021: The campaign to administer the vaccine to all corners of the vast Turkey has taken frontline doctors to the tops of snow-clad hills.

According to a report by DW News, doctors are trekking up hills laden with snow to give the jab to one section of the public. In the Eastern province of Van, there is a small village by the name of Altındere. There is a small population of 10,000 in this village, and in order to get to the residents, it is necessary for the doctors to make the trek.

Doctors are not only doing the difficult trek, they are also using their knowledge and arguments to convince certain residents that the vaccine is not dangerous for them. Some circulated the news that the vaccines are being given to older people in order to kill them. They are informing the residents that they themselves, and their grandparents, have received the vaccine. They have succeeded in convincing many.

While the Turkish government has been criticised in some quarters for its dissemination of the vaccine, it has reached out to far-flung areas like Altındere in order to prove its commitment to the task at hand.
