KARACHI: The duration of the sixth spell of monsoon rains has increased in Quaid-e-Azam city, Meteorological Department said, adding that there is a possibility of rain with strong winds from Monday to Thursday.

According to the reports, the Director Meteorological Department said that the sixth spell of rain has become longer in Karachi, rain system in Sindh and Rajasthan and stormy rains are likely in the Arabian Sea.

According to the meteorological forecast, Karachi is likely to receive thundershowers on August 25, and urban flooding is expected in Sindh, including the city. The Director Meteorology said that more than 150 mm of rain is expected in Karachi.

It is to be noted that the Meteorological Department had forecast rain in Karachi for the third day today. It was said that the intermittent rain would continue till Wednesday.

According to the department, sea breezes could not be restored in Karachi, the humidity was 77 percent.

It may be recalled that even after the rains of the previous day, the rivers and streams in Karachi were boiling. Rain and sewage water had entered the houses in the suburbs including Surjani Town, Yousuf Goth and Baldia Town.

Rain water is still accumulated on the roads leading from North Karachi Nagan Flyover to Power House Chowrangi. Due to rain water, several vehicles were damaged and stopped.

Heavy rains across the province had inundated several areas yesterday and killed seven people in various accidents in Shar-e-Quaid.
