Earthquake hits near Milford Sound in New Zealand

WELLINGTON, JUNE 25th: A magnitude 5.9 earthquake shook the South New Zealand island of Milford Sound, and the quake was so strong that cars parked in a park began to roll over.

According to the foreign news agency, a magnitude 5.9 earthquake was felt near the tourist island of New Zealand but no casualties were reported. People fled their homes in panic.

The quake affected Doni Dan, Wanaka and Queenstown areas of the South Island south of Milford Sound on Thursday, according to the local news agency. The epicenter was reported at 40 km south of Milford Sound in the South Island at a depth of 5 km.

According to locals, the quake was so severe that cars parked in a park began to roll over. A magnitude 4.2 aftershock was also felt on the Richter scale shortly after the quake.
