EasyJet lays off highest number of workers
MANCHESTER: According to the details, EasyJet is planning to make as many as one in three of its pilots redundant and close its bases at Stansted, Southend and Newcastle airports.
According to sources, the coronavirus epidemic has hit the UK as well as the rest of the world badly affecting the economy and forcing thousands of employees to lose their jobs.
During the coronavirus pandemic, most of the British airlines, which lost thousands of their employees due to the financial crisis, suspended air operations at various airports, one of them being the British airline, EasyJet.
EasyJet has begun considering shutting down air operations at three airports and reducing jobs by 30 percent due to financial difficulties.
A spokesman for EasyJet said that 5,000 employees could be laid off in the meantime, and the company would end operations at Newcastle, London Stansted and South End Airports.
The spokesman, further, said that the airline was facing severe financial difficulties due to the coronavirus crisis and the decision to reduce operations and cut down jobs was taken due to the current situation.
According to their officials, the airline operates flights on 546 routes from 11 airports with 163 aircrafts, while the airline carries 52 million passengers every year.
