ECP provides explanation regarding the election petitions

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has clarified that the petitions of 210 constituencies of the National and Provincial Assemblies have been decided by the Election Tribunal.

According to details, the ECP has clarified about the election petitions. ECP has said that after the election, 299 petitions were filed by political parties and candidates.

The commission said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidates has filed 9 petitions in the NA constituencies while they had filed 20 election petitions in the PA constituencies.

The ECP said that the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) candidates filed 15 petitions for the NA constituencies and 28 petitions for the PA constituencies.

However, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidates filed 23 election petitions for National Assembly while 53 election petitions for Provincial Assembly constituencies.

The Election Commission of Pakistan said that political parties, independent candidates have filed 151 petitions for National and Provincial Assemblies, Election Tribunals have so far ruled on petitions of 210 constituencies of National and Provincial Assemblies.
