Educational Institutes likely to close amid COVID-19 resurge?

Due to a rise in the coronavirus cases across the country, a proposal to start winter vacations in educational institutions in advance is under consideration.

According to details, the meeting was attended by Special Health Assistant Dr. Faisal Sultan, Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood and Health Secretary Amir Khawaja during which the coronavius cases in educational institutions were also reviewed.

Federal Minister Asad Omar has said that immediate action is needed to save lives, as the number of coronavirus cases has almost tripled since the proposal came up, adding that the increase in coronavirus cases calls for immediate action.

Due to the growing number of COVID-19 cases across the country, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has ordered immediate closure of cinemas and theaters, closure of shrines and dine-in at restaurants after 10 pm. The rapidly rising proportion of positive cases in educational institutions needs to be curbed.

On November 16, 2020, the federal and provincial education ministers will review the situation in educational institutions.

It has been proposed to the government that in order to reduce the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, the winter holidays should be given earlier this season. After consultation, the recommendations will be shared with the provinces.

Dr. Faisal Sultan has been asked by the public to ignore the SOPs of the global coronavirus. Sultan warned that if precautions were not taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Pakistan could once fall into the June situation.
