Egypt: 10 People, Including 7 Pakistanis, Sentenced to Death

Cairo, Egypt: 10 people, including 7 Pakistanis, have been sentenced to death by an Egyptian military court in a drug trafficking case.

According to details, those sentenced to the death penalty include seven Pakistanis and one Iranian, and two local Egyptians. The culprits were accused of smuggling large quantities of drugs through the Red Sea, and a case against them had been going on for the past two years.

Egypt’s Anti-Narcotics Department, in collaboration with security agencies, foiled an attempt in April 2018 to smuggle huge quantities of heroin from abroad. The drug was seized near Safaga, Egypt.

Reports state that security agencies learned from their sources that the drug mafia was trying to bring in huge quantities of drugs to Egypt by an Iranian cargo ship. Consequently, the security agencies started monitoring it.

As soon as the drugs were delivered to Egypt, the security agencies took action and arrested 10 people which included 7 Pakistanis, one Iranian, and two local Egyptians.
