Egypt: Lockdown eases despite growing Corona victims

The lockdown has been in place in Egypt since March 25th, but now the government has announced a relaxation, with places of worship open from today and no curfew imposed at night.

Gyms, theaters and cafes will also be open, but only a limited number of people are allowed to enter at a time. But in the meantime, new covid-19 victims rising in the country.

A total of 62,755 Corona victims and 2,620 deaths have been confirmed in Egypt so far. But as in other countries, the number of victims and deaths is likely to be higher.

Egypt’s prime minister announced the easing last week, saying both the fight against the pandemic  and the protection of the economy must go hand in hand.

He said the lockdown would be tightened again if people violated the rules.
