Former Egypt President Muhammad Mursi died in court.
According to the reports of Baaghitv, Egypt’s former President Muhammad Mursi died in court session. He was presented to court, which granted him permission to speak for five minutes on his request. He fell to the ground and was rushed to hospital but he died on the way.
He was the first elected president of Egypt, following massive protests termed as ‘Arab-Spring’ by the West which resulted in ending 30 years rule of Hosni Mubarak. Mursi was the chief figure in Egypt’s Muslim brotherhood and became president in 2012. He was toppled by military in 2013 after which his defense minister Abdel Fattah el-Sisi became head of the state.
Qatar ruler Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani expressed deep sorrow on his death. He wrote on twitter,
“We received with deep sorrow the news of the sudden death of former president Dr Mohamed Mursi. I extend to his family and to the Egyptian people brotherly condolences,”
