Eid holidays with strict restrictions, notification issued

Lahore, 4th May: Punjab Government has announced the holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr.

According to reports, Punjab Government has authorized a nine-day holiday plan during Eid-ul-Fitr this year.

A notification issued on Tuesday by the authorities said that government employees will enjoy nine days of holidays this Eid, as public institutions will remain closed from May 10 to May 15.

Although the notification mentions a 6-day holiday, it is to be noted that May 8 and May 9 will fall on Saturday and Sunday, while May 16 is also a Sunday. Hence, there will be a nine-day break on Eid-ul-Fitr.

 

Meanwhile, the National command and Operation Centre (NCOC) also issued a notification announcing the holidays from May 10 to May 15.

NCOC has also issued comprehensive guidelines with the ‘Stay Home-Stay Safe’ policy in order to control the spread of the pandemic during the Eid holidays.

According to the notification, all shopping malls, markets and businesses will remain closed from May 8 till  May 16, except for the required grocery shops, bakeries and pharmacies.

As per the notification, NCOC has put a ban on Chaand Raat bazaars with Henna, Bangles and Jewellery stalls from May 8 till May 16.

Furthermore, all tourist and picnic spots, restaurants and parks will remain closed during these dates.
