Engineer Abdul Rasheed, who won the Baramulla parliamentary seat in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, was today sworn in as member of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament.

Engineer Rasheed was brought from New Delhi’s infamous Tihar jail to the Parliament House this morning. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla administered the oath of office to Engineer Rashid.

It should be remembered that Delhi’s Patiala House Court granted parole to the engineer to take oath on July 2 with the consent of the Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) and was not allowed to speak to the media during that time. Some other conditions were also imposed.

He had approached the court for interim bail or alternatively custodial parole to take oath and perform his parliamentary duties.
