Lahore, 12th July: Britain’s Prince William is disgusted over the racial abuse after England lost the 2020 Euro Cup final on Sunday.

Duke of Cambridge, Prince William was less than impressed with the way England fans are reacting after England got defeated in the UEFA Euro 2020 against Italy.

Taking to the official Twitter account of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William shared how sickened he was by the racist abuse hurled at England footballers after they lost the final match to Italy.

The message by William read, “I am sickened by the racist abuse aimed at England players after last night’s match. It is totally unacceptable that players have to endure this abhorrent behavior. It must stop now and all those involved should be held accountable. W.”

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also condemned the racist abuse directed at three black England players who missed their penalties during the final match.

Johnson tweeted, “This England team deserves to be lauded as heroes, not racially abused on social media. Those responsible for this appalling abuse should be ashamed of themselves.”

It is to be noted that on Sunday England missed out on penalties during the Euro 2020 final against Italy. The sides drew 1-1 after extra time and Italy won the shootout 3-2, with England’s Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka, who are all black, missing the Spot Kicks.

Soon after all three black players of the team started receiving racist abuse on social media. England’s Football Association issued a statement on Monday and said that it was appalled by the disgusting behavior.

In the meantime, London Mayor Sadiq Khan also took to his Twitter account and said that there is no place for racism in football or anywhere else.

He further wrote, “Those responsible for the disgusting online abuse we have seen must be held accountable – and social media companies need to act immediately to remove and prevent this hate.”
