IOSA to conduct complete audit of PIA for aviation safety

According to the report of Baaghi TV, the meeting of the Standing Committee on Aviation of the Senate was held under the chairmanship of Senator Mushahidullah Khan at the Parliament House.

The issue of fake licenses of pilots was reviewed in detail in the meeting of the standing committee. Senator Sherry Rehman said that in the last meeting, the Minister and the Secretary Aviation had separate statements. He said that at the time when the incident of air crash in Karachi came to light, the issue of fake licenses of pilots was brought to the fore which brought the country into disrepute and imposed sanctions.

Senator Sajjad Hussain Turi said that the committee should be informed about the procedure for recruitment of pilots and how much educational qualification is required. On which the Secretary Aviation informed the committee that pilots can become pilots by passing A level or FA and taking flying course.  On which the chairman of the committee said that eleven companies in the country complete their flying hours and whether they are monitored. The Secretary replied that we check their performance is satisfactory.

The committee was told that the licenses of a total of 262 pilots were questionable. Of these, 54 pilots did not take the test. The licenses of 28 pilots have been revoked. The licenses of 193 pilots have been suspended and 38 pilots have made licenses under similar names which are being checked. The report is due by September 30. The same PIA pilots are flying planes whose license is clear. The FIA ​​is investigating the fake license case of the Civil Aviation Authority.

The committee was informed that the officers belonging to 5 license branches have been suspended. show cause notices were also issued. They are being investigated. The chairman of the committee said that the real culprits are on the job. It is better that NAB investigates the matter. The standing committee formed a sub-committee headed by Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar. Senator Sajjad Hussain Turi and Muhammad Asad Ali Khan Junejo will be the members who will review all the issues and provide report to the committee.

The Standing Committee was also briefed on the details of the European Air Safety Agency”s (EASA) ban on PIA flights.
