FBR calculates the total cost of ‘Big Fat Wedding’

Lahore, 13th November: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has completed its investigation regarding the most expensive wedding in Pakistan.

According to the report of Baaghi TV, a couple of weeks back a ‘Big Fat Wedding’ took place in Lahore between two giant business tycoons of the country.

FBR has completed its inquiry into “Pakistan’s most expensive wedding”, Geo News reported on Friday.

According to insiders, for the calculation of tax, the FBR is investigating how much was actually spent on the wedding.

Sources said a sum of Rs 150 million (Rs15 crore) alone was spent on booking a private country club for a period of 120 days (about 4 months) by the bride’s father.

Sources have also revealed that the FBR was also investigating a sum of Rs 15-20 million (Rs1.5-2 crores) given to the event management company which made the arrangements, and a similar amount paid for decorations at the wedding. Rs 1.5 crore was granted for the extensive fireworks.

Further reports reveal that Rs 55 lakh were given to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to perform on Mehndi, Rs 50 lakh were bestowed upon the singer Atif Aslam, who came along with his wife Sarah. Maulana Tariq Jameel has been given Rs 10 lakh for performing the nikah ceremony.

It may be remembered that a few days back the daughter of Master Tiles and the son of Jalal Sons tied the knot in an elaborate ceremony that has been the talk of the town ever since.

Many important personalities and celebrities also attended the functions along with the bigwigs. Maulana Tariq Jameel conducted the nikah of the bride and groom. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was reported to brighten the Mehndi ceremony. Besides them, singers Atif Aslam and Abrar-ul-Haq were also present.
