Lahore, 31st march: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a case against PTI leader Jahangir Tareen Khan and his son.

According to the report of Baaghi TV, FIA has filed a fraud and money laundering case against Jahangir Tareen Khan and his son Ali Tareen on Wednesday.

According to reports gathered from Dawn News, two separate cases were booked under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating of public shareholders) and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), read with sections 3/4 of the Anti Money Laundering Act, as per the FIRs reported on March 22.

Tareen lambasted at the FIA and said that allegations against him and his son are fake. He expressed the same on his Twitter handle.

PTI leader tweeted, “FIA’s latest claims against me and my family are totally fabricated. I have already submitted a detailed reply along with concrete evidence in response to FIA notice. Unfortunate to see them go on another smear campaign against me & my family without establishing anything illegal.”

It is to be noted that the FIR against Tareen said that he fraudulently embezzled money through his company JDW Group, transferring Rs 3.14 billion to a private company named as Farooqi Pulp Private Limited (FPML).

The FIR claimed that the private company FPML is owned by his son Ali Tareen and his sons-in-law Waleed Akbar Faruki and Shahid Akbar Faruki, who benefitted from it and purchases US Dollars from the open market.

It is also being reported that Jahangir Tareen, his son and other family members remitted around US$7.4 Million to the United Kingdom to purchase properties, hence, making them accountable for Anti-Money Laundering investigation.

FIA in its second FIR claimed that the money withdrawal of approximately of Rs 2.2 billion was made fraudulently through a trusted cash rider.

According to the agency’s reports, Amir Waris who was employed as a cashier at JDW’s Corporate Head office deposited huge sum of money into the personal and business accounts of Tareen family.

The FIA claims that this mode of money laundering was conducted to break the further trail of money deposit into the personal and business accounts of Tareen family.
