Lahore, 18th January: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has filed a case against Meesha Shafi and others in connection with Ali Zafar’s campaign on social media.

Baaghi TV: Ali Zafar had lodged a complaint with the FIA Cyber Crime Wing in November 2018 in which he alleged that several social media accounts were posting ‘insulting and threatening material’ against him.

Ali Zafar had alleged that in April 2018, weeks before Meesha Shafi’s allegations of sexual harassment, several fake accounts had launched a vicious campaign against the singer. He also provided details of Twitter and Facebook accounts in support of his claim.

At Ali Zafar’s request, the FIA investigated the case and presented a preliminary interim challan in the court on December 16 last month. Fareeha Ayub, Syed Faizan Raza, Hamna Raza and Ali Gul Pir were convicted.

The FIA was supposed to file a final interim challan in the court, under which the accused were to be prosecuted, but now the FIA has asked the court for more time to file a final interim challan against all the accused.

The case was heard in the court of Lahore Judicial Magistrate Zulfiqar Bari, where the accused, including FIA lawyers, and Ali Zafar’s lawyers also attended.

The alleged campaigners Leena Ghani, Iffat Umar, Fareeha Ayub, Faizan Raza and Haseem appeared before the magistrate but Meesha Shafi and Ali Gul Pir did not appear on Monday.

Meesha Shafi’s lawyer requested the court that she is currently out of the country, the attendance should be waived.

However, the FIA’s lawyer asked for more time to complete the investigation. The court adjourned the case till February 9.
