COVID-19: Alibaba Founder pledges to donate medical facilities

China (21st Mar, 2020): Founder of China’s giant online retail service, Jack Ma, reportedly pledges to provide medical facilities to tackles the spread of Coronavirus, COVID-19. 

According to reports of Baaghi TV, Jack Ma who is the founder of China’s leading online retail service, Alibaba, has reportedly pledged to provide necessary medical facilities to countries in need. Taking to the social networking website, Twitter, Jack Ma confirmed that he hopes to provide equipment such as: face masks, test kits, protective suits including ventilators and thermometers, respectively.

The Chinese businessman tweeted, “Go Asia! We will donate emergency supplies” to countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal and even Sri Lanka. Reportedly, Jack Ma did not mention providing supplies to India which has led to a debate between Twitter users in India.

The tycoon clarified in his tweet that while “Delivering fast is not easy, but we’ll get it done!”

COVID-19: Health-workers test positive in Pakistan

Additionally, as per reports of Baaghi TV, Jack Ma stated that they will be providing approximately:

  • 1.8 million masks
  • 210,000 test kits
  • 36,000 protective suits

Apart from ventilators and thermometers to help combat the spread of the novel Coronavirus in Asian countries. It is to be noted, that the total count of reported cases in Pakistan has reached 527. So far five COVID-19 cases have reportedly recovered while three patients have been declared dead.
