France, Brazil and Jordan announce aid workers and supplies to Beirut
A bomb blast near the Lebanese capital, Beirut, has killed at least 135 people and injured 5,000 others.
A state of emergency has been declared in Beirut following the blasts at the port yesterday.The cabinet has declared a state of emergency in Beirut for two weeks and handed over security to the army.
According to the Lebanese Minister of Information, the officers responsible for storage and security at the Beirut port have been placed under house arrest and the army will monitor the officers locked in the houses until those responsible for the blasts are identified.
According to the governor of Beirut, about 300,000 people have been displaced by the blasts, and authorities are making arrangements to provide food, including temporary accommodation.
The nature of the blast has not yet been confirmed, but officials say it took place in an ammonium nitrate depot in a warehouse near the port.

According to the reports, Lebanese Ambassador to Pakistan Vizcan Kovalekin said that there was no room for the wounded in Beirut’s hospitals, adding that a large stock of wheat needed by Lebanon had been destroyed at the port, causing Lebanon to face food shortages.
The Lebanese ambassador said the blast was being called “Beirut Shima” as it was just like the attack that happened on Hiroshima. Several bodies were buried under the rubble and efforts were being made to exhume it.
The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a rally in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, about 240 kilometers away.
The magnitude of the blasts can also be gauged from the fact that several vehicles flew over the port area and crashed into the third floor of the building.
