France says its military has killed Al-Qaeda leader Abdul Malik Drukdal, in an operation in the North African country, Mali.

The French defense minister said that on June 3, the French army, with the help of local police, killed Al-Qaeda Chief, Abdul Malik, and several of his close associates in an operation carried out on a tip-off in which the Al-Qaeda chief was killed.

French forces also arrested a senior Islamic State group commander in Mali during an operation in May. “Our forces, together with our partners on the coast, will continue their struggle,” he said.
