ISLAMABAD – October 9, 2025: A series of coordinated militant attacks and abductions across Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have left several security personnel martyred and civilians abducted, underscoring persistent security challenges in Pakistan’s western regions.
In Balochistan’s Bolan District, three coal miners were abducted by unidentified assailants from a site in the Mach area. Security forces and police have cordoned off the region and launched a search operation to trace the missing workers. The incident has heightened anxiety among local mining communities already grappling with threats of extortion and violence.

In Panjgur, militants attacked a Frontier Corps (FC) check post in Balgatar, killing three security personnel and injuring four others. Security officials confirmed that troops retaliated effectively, killing three attackers and capturing one in an injured state. Operations in the surrounding areas are continuing to eliminate remaining threats.
In Kharan District, a large group of armed men targeted a Pakistani forces outpost near Garok Dam, attacking seven separate positions in a coordinated strike. Although official casualty figures have not yet been released, the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the assault — the second major attack in the district within 24 hours following a similar incident in Balgatar.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Kharan, abducted judicial officer Judge Qazi Muhammad Jan Baloch was released a day after unidentified armed men kidnapped him and set fire to the Kharan District and Qazi Courts. Authorities have reinforced security measures for judicial staff and launched an investigation into the attack.
Amid the ongoing unrest, a rare positive development emerged in Mashkhel, where Pakistan and Iran formally inaugurated the Katagar Crossing Point to facilitate regulated cross-border movement. The ceremony, attended by officials and local communities from both sides, was marked by optimism over enhanced trade and cultural ties. Security at the crossing will be managed locally, and discussions are underway to open an additional trade point at Jodhar.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dera Ismail Khan witnessed multiple militant attacks. At the Khati Check Post, In-charge Ahmad Nawaz embraced martyrdom after sustaining critical injuries during an assault by terrorists. In a separate operation in the Daraban area, Major Sibtain of the Pakistan Army was also martyred during an encounter with militants. Later, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Daraban Kalan area, killing three terrorists linked to the same network.
In Lakki Marwat District, unidentified gunmen abducted four individuals, including two leaders of the National Peace Committee, from the Peepal Mandi area. Local sources identified the abducted as Waliullah and Farman, leaders of the Marwat Betni National Movement, along with two companions. Search operations have been launched to recover the abducted and trace the perpetrators.
In the Tirah Valley of Khyber District, security forces killed a Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militant identified as Hamza during an intelligence-driven operation. Hamza was reportedly involved in multiple attacks targeting security personnel. Search operations are continuing to track other members of the group believed to be hiding in the area.
In Kurram District, five Frontier Corps personnel previously reported missing during a militant assault were found martyred, bringing the total death toll from the attack to sixteen. The TTP claimed responsibility, acknowledging the deaths of two of its fighters. In a separate encounter in the Dogar area, two more militants — identified as Khubaib and an Afghan national — were killed during an exchange of fire with security forces.

The recent surge in violence highlights the continued threat posed by militant networks in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, despite ongoing counter-terrorism operations. Security forces remain on high alert across the affected districts as search and clearance operations continue.
On the other hand, Lahore was swept by unrest late Tuesday night in the Nagra Town / Dhulay Wala area near the Khadim Rizvi / Rehmatul Lil Alameen Mosque on Multan Road. The flare-up is tied to Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) activities, according to local reports and security sources. Witnesses say tensions escalated when law enforcement moved on the TLP headquarters, triggering clashes between police and party workers. The TLP claims one worker was martyred in the confrontation, and over 50 others wounded during the operation. Police used tear gas and took positions in surrounding areas, blocking key routes and disrupting traffic near Yateem Khana Chowk, Scheme Mor, and adjacent localities.
Reports also indicate heavy shelling through the night, with local security agencies fortifying positions and sealing off strategic roads. The area remains tense as residents brace for continued unrest. Lahore’s security leadership has issued an advisory to staff and the public: avoid Multan Road and its environs, steer clear of Yateem Khana Chowk and Scheme Mor, anticipate road closures, and limit nonessential movement until further notice. However, officials have not yet issued a consolidated casualty verification. The situation remains volatile, and further updates are awaited.
