Gilgit, 6th November: The Gilgit-Baltistan court has dealt a major blow to those interfering in the elections.

According to reports, the Gilgit-Baltistan court has barred the parliamentarians from political activities. The court ordered the deportation of ministers, members of parliament and senators.

A two-member bench headed by the Chief Justice ruled on the writ petition of PPP and PML-N. The court order said that the ministers should be sent back to the provincial assembly, national assembly, members and senators, the IG police should inform the authorities of all the districts, the above-mentioned members of the national assembly, senators and ministers should be stopped from political activities.

It may be recalled that the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Legislative Assembly elections will be held on November 15. Elections to the 24 general seats of the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly, which were earlier scheduled for August 18, were postponed due to the coronavirus. The five-year term of the last assembly expired on June 24, ending the PML-N’s five-year rule there.
