Germany and France pledge more funding to WHO

Just weeks after the US announced the suspension of funding to the World Health Organization (WHO), Germany and France have said they will increase funding for the organization.
Germany has pledged US$ 560 million this year, while France has pledged 140 million euros.
He emphasized the importance of helping the World Health Organization (WHO) and said it was working to fight pandemic and other diseases.
“Germany is a strong supporter and good friend of the World Health Organization,” German Health Minister Jens Spahn said at the WHO headquarters on Thursday.
His French counterpart Olivier Véran said the WHO could regulate the global response to COVID-19.
When President Trump announced last month that he was suspending WHO funding, he accused the WHO of failing to blame China for the pandemic.
