Sydney (2nd Nov, 2019): Former wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist is expecting a competitive contest between Australia and Pakistan in the three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series.

While talking in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) podcast, Gilchrist said that the number one ranked T20I side should not let their inexperience get the better of them.

“They are the number one ranked team and I expect them to be strong,” said Gilchrist. “It is crucial that the experienced players don’t let the fast-bowlers get too carried away in the Australian conditions but I do expect them to be very competitive.”

“Young fast-bowlers see the pace and bounce and bowl short too often. The Australians will be ready for that. So they must hit a fuller length and keep the short ball as a surprise option,” he added.

The 47-year-old also said that the hosts need to be wary of the unpredictable nature of the Men in Green.

“Pakistan always has that interesting aspect in which you’re never sure what you’re gonna get. When they’re on, they are brilliant and when they are not, they can look pretty average,” he said.
