Gotki Train Accident: Pakistan Railways announces compensation for victims

Lahore, 7th June: After a devastating train accident at Gotki, Sindh today, Pakistan Railways announces compensation for the victims.

A spokesperson for Pakistan Railways has announced compensation for those who lost their lives or suffered injuries in today’s tragic train accident that took place at Gotki, a district in Sindh province.

He announced that the Railway department will pay Rs 1.5 million to each victim of the train accident that took place on Monday.

The spokesperson added that the injured passengers will receive an amount of Rs 50,000 to Rs 300,000 according to the injuries they suffered.

He also informed that the process to collect details of the injured and dead persons has started on an immediate basis.

During the derailment of the train, the bogies of the Millat Express moved from up track to the down track.

According to reports, at around 3:38 am, another train, Sir Syed Express passed through the Reti area. On seeing it, the driver of the Millat Express applied emergency brakes in order to stop the Sir Syed Express, but unfortunately, it rammed with the derailed bogies of the Millat Express.

The railway spokesperson informed that the relief train reached Daharki at 6:45 am, where at least 50 people were declared dead and 70 others sustained injuries.
