Government to File References against Housing Societies found involved in Corruption

Islamabad July 16 (Online Int’l): The government informed the National Assembly on Thursday that references would be filed with the National Accountability Bureau against the housing societies found involved in corruption and corrupt practices
The Jammu and Kashmir Housing Society (JKHS) case has been referred to NAB, the session was informed.
The session was further updated that owners of some illegal guest houses established in residential areas in Islamabad have approached the Supreme Court against the CDA action, adding that as their cases get closed further measures will be taken against the owners of such guest houses. It was also told to the National Assembly that immediate action has been taken against the complaints received by the Prime Minister House through the PM portal. The complainants are also kept informed about the actions on their complaints.
Parliamentary Secretary Interior Shaukat Ali informed the session that a maximum number of passport offices have been operational in different cities of the country. PPP member Parliament Naveed Qamar said that where passport offices were opened it has also been said that people of these areas are sensitive, asking whether the people of the areas where passport offices are not yet open are physically sound.
Dr Babar Awan said that everyone is equal to the government, adding that passport offices were opened by all the previous governments, not just the PTI government. He assured the parliament that public complaints will soon be addressed. In a written reply, it was also told that at least 1,500 houses were violating the CDA bylaws and actions have been taken against them, adding that 116 residential houses were being used as guest houses. It was further told that out of 116 guest houses, owners of 89 have approached the SC against the CDA action, adding that action against 27 others is under way.
The NA session was also informed that the foreign office received as many as 521,077 applications during the past one year, of which only 24 are pending and the rest have been processed.
