Govt announces to provide loans on easy Instalments

Hafeez Sheikh, finance adviser to Prime Minister Imran Khan, said the government had decided to provide easy installment loans to the people.

A meeting of the Economic Think Tank was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister in which Finance Advisor Hafeez Sheikh, Advisor on Institutional Reforms Dr. Ishrat Hussain, Governor SBP Raza Baqir and former Finance Secretary Dr. Waqar Masood participated.

Apart from Razzaq Dawood, Trade Advisor to the Prime Minister, Shaukat Tareen, Sultan Allana and Dr Ijaz Nabi also attended the meeting through video link.

Addressing the participants, the Prime Minister stressed the need to find effective solutions for economic growth in view of the current situation of corona virus across the country.

He appreciated the suggestions made by the think tank on banking and finance, further improving the Ehsas program and providing facilities to small and medium enterprises.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that in the current situation, an out-of-the-box solution is needed for economic growth. Corona virus has negatively affected Pakistan as well as the global economy. The government adopted a balance-saving strategy from the very first day in order save the people and economy.

“Providing assistance to the poor through targeted subsidies is a top priority. The Ehsas program is the government’s flagship program for poverty alleviation that needs to be extended to more beneficiaries,” he said.

Referring to the construction sector, the Prime Minister said that an excellent package has been announced for the construction and housing sector, which aims to drive employment and the economy and increase affordable housing for the poor.

After the meeting, Finance Adviser Hafeez Sheikh told the media that the purpose of the think tank was to work with experts in various fields to take steps to improve the economy.

Hafeez Sheikh said that today the banking and finance sector was seen while it was decided to provide loans to the people on easy installments and to improve the subsidies.

The Finance Adviser said that the decision to provide incentives to the people in the construction sector would be implemented. The Prime Minister also directed to extend their rights to the needy.
