An Indian journalist, Mazhar Farooqui working for Gulf News Dubai has been threatened that his passport will be confiscated and he would be arrested on entering India.

According to Baaghi TV, the reason for threats and abuses hurled at Mazhar Farooqui apparently is, he had reported some Islamophobic social media posts by Indian ex-pats which resulted in their ouster and now he is being trolled and threatened.

The threats were explicit and some of them read:

  • You are being closely watched by security agencies here; your future liberty in India is uncertain. U may have to go to jail if you return here.
  • Where is his family? Should be picked up. The passport should be canceled.
  • You are on our list too. Along with your daughters.

Iranian hatred card was played by sending Police authorities in Dubai to have a thorough security check on Mazher Farooqui as he is considered to be a secret agent for Iran being a Shia Muslim from Lucknow.

Mazhar Farooqui, claims he was bombarded with abusive and threatening messages on all social media platforms like his mail, on WhatsApp, on Facebook Messenger, and on Twitter.

According to his claims, some of the accounts have been deactivated and some tweets deleted, several threats were issued from verified accounts and by people followed by the Indian Prime Minister.

Farooqui had been working for Hindustan Times in Lucknow before shifting to Gulf News in Dubai. He had an illustrious career and received several awards for his investigative reports.

He has busted a job racket by an Indian Based agency, which charged hefty fees for fake job interviews in the gulf. BJP IT cell is against Farooqui for exposing frauds of Indian businessmen. The RSS  backed government agencies can never accept anyone exposing their malicious intent.
