Hayden and Philander Made Cricket Team Coaches
Rameez Raja, the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, has said that Australian player Matthew Hayden and South African fast bowler Vernon Philander have been appointed as the coaches of the Pakistan cricket team for the T20 World Cup.
Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Rameez Raja said that Hayden is an aggressive player. “I know Philander, he will also give good input,” he said.
Rameez Raja said that if any club will give an international cricketer, the board will bear all the expenses of that club, and the pay scale of women cricketers will also be taken up.
The newly elected chairman PCB said that they will not run after India for playing. “Pak-India cricket is still impossible, we are not in a hurry to play either, and sports matters have gone away due to politics,” he said.
Rameez Raja further said that the resignations of Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis were approved by the previous board. “I would have thought on the same lines,” he said.
“I also felt bad about not having DRS in the home series against New Zealand. I will definitely talk about it. There is no truth in the fact that I did not change the team,” he said.
He went on to say that Imran Khan is a great leader. “He trusted me. Misbah and Waqar Younis worked hard and honestly. This position is not easy, this is firing range, we have to work and meet the challenge, the commentary box is an easy position, leaving it here is challenging,” he said.
The PCB Chairman said that the team of 1992 is also present here. He said, “I ask them to give open opinions. I always thought that if I get a chance to come to this position, I will correct the PCB’s vision. There is a need to improve school and club cricket, and there is uncertainty in first-class cricket. There is a lot of confusion as to which system is better.”
He said that he has talked to the players of the Pakistan team and told them which model to adopt. “The direction of the Pakistan team has to be adjusted, my wishes are very much that the Pakistan team will be the best,” he said.
Rameez Raja further that there is a need to bring continuity in the matter of selection. “The pitches are in very bad condition, we did not work on the pitches,” he stated.
He said that regarding the World Cup T20, he would say that we have to support the team that has been selected, we have to take a chance with the youth. “We had the most discussions on the World Cup team,” he added.
He announced that Matthew Hayden and Vernon Philander have been made the coaches of the Pakistan cricket team for World T20.
“I have to make decisions on the position I have come to. Pakistan has 4 to 5 match winners. Back the team, and you will get good news in ten days on Saturday. I will make decisions but there will be mistakes. I have a lot of work to do, the results will come out in six months, there is an enclosure in the stadium in the name of me and my brother, just don’t criticize, we all need support,” he added.
Rameez Raja said that there are great minds in the governing board who can give can give good suggestions. “There is still a lot to be done at the international level. We will set up high-performance centers in Sindh and Balochistan. Play, I have come here to make a difference, if there is no difference then my coming is useless,” he said.
